What is Citrus Aurantium?

  • – Citrus anrantium is also known as bitter orange, it’s a plant in family Rutaceae. One of the main active ingredients is synephrine which is a primary synthesis compound has pharmacological effects such as vasoconstriction, elevation of blood pressure and relaxation of bronchial muscle. And the fruit extracts have a long history usage as the treatment for various diseases such as gastrointestinal disorders, insomnia head aches, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, antiseptic, anti-oxidant, antispasmodic, aromatic, astringent, carminative, digestive, sedative, stimulant, stomachic and tonic. Additionally, it is found to be used in obesity and related risks in all age groups by research level.[1]

  • – The synephrine in Citrus aurantium is a stimulant with similar properties as caffeine and ephedrine which has antiobesity effects. Synephrine is climed to have similar effects such as increasing energy expenditure, increasing metabolism, and suppressing appetite and therefore has been labeled as the replacement of ephedrine.
