What is Ginger root?

  • – Ginger root, also known as Zingiber officinale Roscoe, has a long history usage as both medicine and spice which is frequently used in the world. Ginger was recommended for treatments of headaches and migraines, blood pressure of flow, and colds. The rhizome or the vertical portion of the root is the most commonly consumed part of ginger. Gingerol (a ketone body structurally similar to raspberry ketones and capsaicin) is one of its main bioactives which is also the primary spicy ingredient in ginger.[1]

Function? – GI tract health

  • – Ginger was recommended in the past to alleviate nausea and seasickness and found to be more efficient at suppressing seasickness than Dimenhydrinate (Gravel). It’s found to exert the effects gastrically instead of neurally.[1]
  • – Ginger ingestion can speed up gastric transit of foods and digestion.[1]
